About project

SYNERGYS is a unique research and test site in Litoměřice, focused on geoenergy and other renewable sources. It is based in RINGEN research infrastructure in Litoměřice. Geothermal energy will be extracted here by means of shallow and deep boreholes, at depths of approximately 100 to 4000 m. The shallow boreholes will also be used to store thermal energy produced in summer by solar panels on the roofs of the surrounding buildings (UTES - underground thermal energy storage). The geothermal and solar systems will be complemented by electrolytic hydrogen production. All these technologies will be linked into a functioning technological "ecosystem" that will be energy self-sufficient. At the same time, it will be possible to use surplus heat for heating in Litoměřice. However, the SYNERGYS project will not only serve the residents of Litoměřice. Its main goal is to support municipalities and companies in the transition from fossil to green energy sources. The SYNERGYS project is implemented by [scientific and academic institutions] and the municipality of Litoměřice, under the leadership of Charles University. It involves top scientific centres from abroad and a wide range of public and commercial stakeholders.

In total, 4 systems will be built here, focusing on different aspects of carbon-free heat and power supply solutions:

- System 1 (green building)

- System 2 (green hydrogen)

- System 3 (shallow green heat)

- System 4 (deep green heat)
